New to the Woodland China collection are the Hunting Dogs. These plates are decorated with a Black Labrador, English Springer Spaniel, Golden Retriever, Pointer, Beagle and Yellow Lab. The Black Labrador originates from Newfoundland and is one of the most popular breeds today; the English Springer Spaniel is a hearty medium sized dog with long pendant ears whose name derives from its springing method of flushing birds; the Golden Retriever is known as an excellent bird dog on land and water; and the Pointer, a powerful, graceful, aristocratic dog used for hunting upland birds on land, gets its name from its hunting style, which involves a motionless stance pointing in the direction of hidden game.
