Calaisio's dream is to bring the world products of timeless design, quality and durability, while taking care of the environment and giving back to the communities of the artisans who create them.
The artisans reside in the small villages of the South Pacific, where "Vignes d'eau"...water vines...grow in the remote mountain jungles. Once reaped, the vines grow back quickly, leaving no damage to their native forests. The water vine, barely one-fourth the thickness of rattan, takes 1 to 5 days to weave by hand into a finished design, but yields a substantially more durable, heat-resistant and elegant product.
